Tourist pays off massive fine for over-speeding

DUBAI: The case of the British tourist who exceeded the speed limit while driving his rented Lamborghin­i in Dubai, and was ined more than DHS170,000 In THREE and a half hours has been settled. THE Driver HAS PAID OFF THE ines of DHS117,000 At THE DUBAI TRAFIC Police Headquarte­rs following a settlement with the Dubai Police.

The 25-year-old tourist expressed his regret for the reckless behaviour, noting that he could not help the temptation of being able to drive a wonderful car like Lamborghin­i.

THE BRITISH visitor PAID DHS66,880 for 36 speed violations. He also paid DHS50,500 For THE Impoundmen­t of THE vehicle, for the same violation.

While the vehicle was being monitored, it was noted that the driver drove over THE SPEED of 200 kilometers per hour. He however did manage to get A Discount of 50 per Cent of THE total impounded value that had reached more than DHS100,000, As ORDERED By THE GENERAL DIRECTORAT­E of TRAFIC In DUBAI.

On July 31, the tourist reportedly hired the Dhs1.3million worth car for three days. Twelve of THE radars LASHED At THE VEHICLE when THE tourist Crossed 200 kilometers per hour. The rest of the radars LASHED when THE tourist sped BETWEEN 150 to 200 kilometers per Hour, on SHEIKH ZAYED ROAD. ONE of THE ines was issued on Qarn Al-sabkha Street.
