KF aid work in full swing

ABU DHABI: A total of ahs1m million has been collected by the Khalifa Bin wayed Al Nahyan coundation through rabjbased fndian tycoons and businesses for Kerala flood victimsi a few hours only after the coundation had launched its relief campaign in response to the directives of rab leaders to form a national emergency committee to provide assistance to the fndian state.

Indian busnessmen MA Yusuff Ali, owner of the Lulu Hypermarke­t chain worldwide, and Dr BR Shetty, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice Chairman of NMC Health PLC, have donated Dhs5 million each, in response to the UAE emergency campaign for standing by the flood-hit victims.

Separately, GEMS Education Founder & Chairman sunny Varkey has committed Dhs5 million to the special committee formed by the UAE to support emergency relief and rehabilita­tion work in Kerala.

Director-general of the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Humanitari­an Foundation, Mohammed Haji Al Khouri, commended the generous support, provided by the Uae-based Indian businessme­n in the country and their rapid response to the UAE leadership’s directives.

“The rapid response reflects their sincere belief and trust in the significan­ce of the UAE humanitari­an role and efforts,” he said in comment.

The Foundation is continuing its relief campaigns to stand by the victims, he said, calling upon all charity actors to chip in and support their brothers anywhere in the world.
