Imran to visit China next month

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit China in October, the media reported on Friday.

It will be Imran Khan’s irst visit to China after assuming the ofice. The dates of his visit and meeting schedule with Chinese oficials is being inalised, the News Internatio­nal reported.

It said that Imran Khan will be accompanie­d by a high-level delegation and will be discussing the China Pakistan Economic Corridor project with the Chinese leadership besides exchanging views on economic cooperatio­n.

The Pakistani delegation will also participat­e in a conference in China, the report said.

Imran Khan in his post-election address on July 25 had vowed to strengthen and improve Pakistan’s relationsh­ip with neighbouri­ng countries, including China.

“We will strengthen and improve our relations with China. We want to work towards success of the CPEC. We also want to send teams to learn poverty alleviatio­n from China,” he had said.

The Russian energy ministry said in a statement that Moscow and Islamabad signed a memorandum of understand­ing on implementi­ng a project to build an underwater gas pipeline from Iran to Pakistan and India.

“The memorandum provides for the identiicat­ion of authorized organisati­ons through which the project will be supported, including during the developmen­t of a feasibilit­y study, identiicat­ion of the resource base, conigurati­on and route of the gas pipeline,” the statement said, Xinhua reported.

Russian Deputy Energy Minister Anatoly Yanovsky and Pakistan’s Ministry of Energy Additional Secretary Sher Afgan Khan signed the document in Moscow.
