Inspector gets 25 years for killing girlfriend
DUBAI: An inspector who slayed his girlfriend and burnt her workplace for refusing to get out of the country after chucking him lost an appeal against life imprisonment on Sunday.
The African cargo inspector, 29, thumped the Kenyan woman with a baseball bat and knifed her at around 5:30pm on Mar.1.2016 at a company in Silicon Oasis, Rashidiyah Police Station records showed.
He smashed laptops, set the company on ire AND LED. HE HAD Brought THE girlfriend to the UAE and helped her ind A JOB But SHE ENDED up spurning him. He acknowledged the assault at the Criminal Court.
However, he contended that he did not premeditate the murder. “I took the decision at that moment,” he argued. The Criminal Court sentenced him to 25 years in the dock to be followed by deportation.
He appealed seeking mercy. Prosecutors appealed demanding a death penalty. The Appeals Court rejected the prosecutors’ plea and ordered the convict to serve the penalty issued against him.
Both had been in love for seven years. He found her a marketing job. Once he requested her to help pay some of his bills. She refused and instead relocated to a countrywoman’s apartment.
She declined to answer his phone calls. He travelled to Kenya and talked to her father. The father paid no heed to him. She told the defendant she no longer wanted to stay with a “sick poor drunkard.”
A week before the incident he purchased the baseball bat from Naif area. He also carried a kitchen knife in his backpack and purchased a gallon of petrol AND lammable GAS Cans From Nahdah area.
He went to the building, used the lift to THE ifth loor. HE took THE EMERGENCY stairway to THE seventh loor. HE irst took an energy drink and wore gloves. He drenched a ball-shaped piece of cloth in petrol.
He knocked and a Filipina opened. He pushed the door against her, torched the ball with a lighter and hurled it on a table. It rolled to a carpet starting a ire. THE victim TRIED ESCAPING to THE washroom.
He chased her and thumped her head. She called his name and collapsed. He thumped her again and repeatedly STABBED HER. HE LED LEAVING THE murder tools at the scene. He escaped through the parking.
He walked to a friend’s apartment in Sharjah’s Al Muwailih area and washed blood, sweat and sand from the clothes. Police sources directed criminal pursuit teams to his hideout. He confessed upon arrest.
He told investigators he borrowed a lot of money to please her. She landed HIM In inancial woes AND spurned HIM unexpectedly. He tried to win back her heart. She rebuffed him. He resolved to revenge.
