Murder case verdict on Oct.7

ABU DHABI: The Abu Dhabi Court of Cassation set a date on Oct.7 for pronouncin­g the verdict in the case of a young Arab man and woman charged with premeditat­ed murder, theft and drug abuse.

The Court of First Instance gave death sentence to the young Arab man, one-year imprisonme­nt for the charge of taking psychotrop­ic substances and one-year imprisonme­nt for consensual sexual harassment.

The court also gave life in prison to the young Arab woman on charges of provoking the other defendant into killing the victim and also taking part in the murder. The defendant was also given a 4-year imprisonme­nt for drug abuse and one-year imprisonme­nt for consensual sexual harassment.

According to the oficial documents, the woman provoked the man into killing the victim, who was her boyfriend. The man went to the victim’s ofice and stabbed the victim in the neck and other parts of his body until he passed away. The defendant also took the victim’s mobile phone and destroyed it.

On interrogat­ion, the defendant confessed to the murder and the security authoritie­s found the knife used in the murder.

The man noted that the woman had provoked him into killing the victim over previous disputes with him. He also noted that she had bought the knife, handed it over to him and set the time and place for committing the murder.
