Pakistan chopper violates Indian airspace in J-K

JAMMU: A Pakistani helicopter violated Indian air space on Sunday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch sector but a Defence Ministry spokesman said it was likely a civilian chopper.

Spokesman Lt Colonel Devender Anand said here that the Pakistani Chopper, lying very HIGH, Committed the violation at 12.10pm.

Earlier reports said the helicopter belonged to the Pakistan Army.

A policeman was killed on Sunday during a militant attack on a police station in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district, authoritie­s said.

The station came under attack early on Sunday morning after the militants hurled a grenade and then ired Indiscrimi­nately At THE station’s guard post before escaping, according to police sources.

“A constable deployed at the guard post was seriously injured. He was shifted to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries,” the sources added.

Meanwhile, a Border Security Force (BSF) soldier shot and killed himself in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, oficials SAID on Sunday.

Police said Head Constable Ram Charan died at the Sunderbani BSF camp in Rajouri district on Saturday evening.

“He was shifted to a hospital in a critical condition where doctors declared him dead,” police said.

A soldier was injured in a landmine explosion on Sunday near the Line of Control (LOC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.

Defence Ministry sources said Havaldar Sendkar Ravsahav was injured near a forward post in Poonch district when he accidental­ly stepped on a landmine.
