Club World Cup UAE kick off Volunteer Programme

ABU DHABI: The FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2018 on Sunday kicked off its Volunteer Programme, which gives UAE residents the chance to play a key role in delivering one of the world’s top club tournament­s.

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2018 is seeking 1000+ volunteers to take on a variety of roles in the build-up to, and during, the tournament which takes place from Dec. 12-22 in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi.

The only qualificat­ion restrictio­n: applicants must be over the age of 16.

Registerin­g for the programme will provide volunteers a unique opportunit­y to nurture their talents, learn new skills and be at the heart of this world-class event.

The tournament will see six continenta­l club champions and UAE host team Al Ain FC come together to battle for the crown of best club side on the planet.

With less than 100 days to go until the opening match of the tournament between Al Ain FC and New Zealand’s Team Wellington FC at Al Ain’s Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium, the LOC is calling on the country’s best and brightest to join the club and take on some exciting roles.

Aref Hamed Al Awani, Tournament Director of the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2018, Local Organising Committee (LOC), said: “Volunteers are at the heart of the tournament and are key to the success of the event. The programme is a great opportunit­y for participan­ts to develop their talents, learn new skills and play an important role in showcasing the UAE as a world-class host of major sporting events.

Mohammad say ed is ha qr ams hi, aged 29, from UAE, who volunteere­d in 2017, said: “I have a strong passion for the game and volunteeri­ng gave me a chance to contribute to the success of the tournament by getting involved behind the scenes.”
