DUBAI: A technician who murdered his boss for procrastinating to endorse HIS LEAVE request AND TRIED knifing an employee for intervening, was JAILED For 25 years on Sunday.

THE ASIAN man, 25, Got A KNIFE AND stashed it under his clothes. He cornered the Indian administrator inside a room at a workers’ accommodation of a company in Jebel Ali Industrial area on Aug.6 last year.

He shut the door and repeatedly struck his chest and stomach. The administrator succumbed to severe haemorrhage as a result of heart, lung and liver cuts, it was stated in a coroner’s report.

Prosecutors said he then tried to knife an Egyptian employee who had come to the administrator’s rescue. The Egyptian resisted, forced him to drop the knife and pinned him down until police arrived.

A police lieutenant, corporal and a policeman were dispatched to the scene. The technician’s clothes and hands were stained with blood, said the policeman who shackled him and took him inside the patrol car.

In Jebel Ali Police Station records, a lieutenant colonel investigating the incident discovered a dispute erupted between the technician and the deceased about work and accommodation matters.

During prosecution interrogations the technician contended that a week before the incident he requested the deceased to allow him go on leave but the deceased declined to approve his request.

On the date of the incident “I asked him about the progress of my leave application but he rebuked me. I got disappointed and knifed him to death,” he reportedly said. Police seized the knife at the scene.

A psychiatric examination report showed the technician was uncooperative as he took a long period of time to answer or even avoided answering questions. This indicated he was trying to hide or change case details.

He claimed to an investigation team the deceased and a group of his cohorts wanted to physically and sexually assault him. However, the Egyptian employee and an Arab witness refuted this allegation.

The Arab witness explained that the technician entered the room, shut the Door AND started knifing THE DECEASED. At the Dubai Criminal Court he denied premeditated murder and attempted murder charges.

Prosecutors demanded the toughest punishment applicable. On April 22 the court referred him to a medical committee to assess his sanity. The court on Sunday sentenced him to life behind bars to be followed by deportation.
