Eight punished for exploiting underage girls

DUBAI: Eight members of a human traficking ring who Exploited THREE needy girls inside a brothel were on Sunday SENTENCED to ive years BEHIND Bars AND ined DHS20,000 each.

During a police raid on the brothel, its clerk jumped out of a window to LEE From Arrest. HE plummeted to THE ground. An ambulance rushed him to hospital but he succumbed to the injuries.

An Asian porter, 33, who owned that Brothel, A visitor, 35, who worked as its doorkeeper, four pimps (aged 2439) and a saleswoman, 37, in charge of processing travel documents were sued.

They and an ex-fugitive salesman, 41, had brought three underprivi­leged Asian girls to the UAE, lied about their ages in the passports and exploited them In THE lesh TRADE. THEY Also EARNED from streetwalk­ers.

During court questionin­g, the men admitted to have exploited the girls, operated the brothel and earned from streetwalk­ers. They contended the girls were being paid. The saleswoman denied exploiting the girls.

The Dubai Criminal Court’s jury presided by Judge Mohamed Jamaal kaamil sentenced each one to ive years behind bars to be followed by deportatio­n. It also ordered each one to pay a DHS20,000 ine.

The jury also ordered the confiscati­on of their mobile phones, lesh trade proceeds and parapherna­lia besides locking the apartment in Al Baraha that they had turned into a brothel, until further legal notice.

An Asian girl, 17, explained that the saleswoman and her brother called her to streetwalk and she accepted. She spent the irst night at the saleswoman’s villa in Hamriyah from where she was taken to the brothel.

The saleswoman handed her to the deceased clerk. She worked for three months, travelled with the saleswoman abroad and returned on a new visit visa. It also expired. She did the same and returned to work.

A compatriot girl, 17, narrated how a woman befriended her and connected her with the saleswoman. She accepted to work at the brothel because she needed money. The saleswoman brought her to Dubai.

A second compatriot girl, 17, said she also accepted because she had a pressing need for money. She found several women working inside the porter’s brothel. She worked for several months, travelled abroad and returned.

An Emirati lieutenant testified that a source alerted police an underage girl was being exploited inside the brothel. On Dec.7 an undercover cop posed as a client accompanie­d by the source. The doorkeeper opened for them. The clerk welcomed them in.

They asked for a girl on condition she was under 18. The clerk was trying to organise a meeting when cops stormed the apartment. The brothel’s clerk slipped through the cops, tried escaping through the window but lost balance and plunged.
