Noon Awards winners give advice to participants
SHARJAH: Self-identity is the qualities, beliefs, personality, looks, and expressions that make up a person. It is what differentiates us from each other yet connects us. Last year’s participants of Noon Arts Award 2017 had to tackle the theme ‘Huwiyyati,’ which translates as, “my identity.’
They strongly encourage everyone to participate in this year’s award and share invaluable advices.
BADRIA ABDALLA HUSSAIN ABDALLA AL HAMMADI
“It was the irst time I ever participated in such an award. I can’t begin to explain how much it meant to me to win this challenge. It motivated me to think about painting more seriously and encouraged me to learn more techniques. Noon Arts Award is a platform that helps artist to believe in themselves. Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammad Al Qasimi’s belief that there is art inside every woman, truly inspired me. I encourage everyone to participate because you never know how far this award can take you. When I participated I thought I wasn’t a good artist, but I won. Have faith in yourself and do the best you can.”
PRIYANKA VIJAYAN
“I tend to live by the phrase, ‘Wherever you are, whatever you do, always be in love.” Winning the title last year just added more faith into my love for art and that will always be the case. The competition forced me to get out of my comfort zone and explore different forms of art. Though my art involves mostly black and white, I have started incorporating different mediums. There are so many ways to express yourself and many of the works last year was profound.
AYSHA KHALIFA JUMA AHMED ALHOSANI
“As a working mother it isn’t easy to compete in several competitions. Sharjah Ladies Club and Noon Arts Award has consistently encouraged women and push them forward to discover their talents, and that is what happened to me. The competition was very supportive towards everyone – whether they are mothers or working females. What I really loved was that SLC allows women from all generations to participate, young and old. It’s a true platform for women to express themselves.
