Finance minister briefs Imran on bailout package
ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Asad Umar on Sunday called on Prime Minister Imran Khan to brief him about meetings with the oficials of International Monetary Fund (IMF) on potential bailout package.
As per details garnered, the meeting was held at Imran’s residence in Bani Gala and was also attended by Adviser for Commerce, Textile, Industry and Production, and Investment of Pakistan Abdul Razak Dawood.
Umar informed premier about the loans taken by the previous governments of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). Umar also informed premier about the bleak state of forex reserves.
On the other hand, Dawood also informed premier about the steps being taken by the current government to hike exports and trade.
Imran assured Umar and Dawood of full assistance of the federal government. He vowed to bring Pakistan out of the economic quagmire. Imran also urged both to take such initiatives which would bar shifting economic burden on laymen.
Also during the day, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said that the policies of previous government were responsible for deteriorated situation of country.
Buzdar met several delegations from DG Khan Division and discussed their issues and possible solutions.
While addressing to a gathering Buzdar said that the Imran kept his all promises regarding development of Pakistan. He asserted that previous government adopted wrong policies that inluenced the economy of Pakistan.
He added that previous government had hidden reality and truth, and failed to satisfy nation. However, Imran will keep his all promises.
