DUBAI: A maid who teamed up with countrymen to force her ex-husband’s underprivileged sister into the lesh trade under imprisonment threats was jailed with them on Monday.

The Asian maid, 30, and her countrymen –an employee, 42, a labourer, 30, and a carpenter, 35- lured the Bangladeshi girl, 16, with the prospect of inding her a job to support her insolvent parents.

The maid and the employee prepared travel documents with her age exaggerated. The employee received her at the airport and sheltered her at his lat. The maid took her to a brothel in Al Muhaisna.

The brothel–an abandoned trading store whose glass façade had been tinted- was being run by the labourer and carpenter with the help of fugitives, according to indings at Al Qusais Police Station.

Prosecutors accused the labourer and carpenter of operating the brothel and ben- eiting from two (deported) streetwalkers’ proceeds. They also accused the maid of prostitution and sleeping with employee.

During Dubai Criminal Court questioning, the maid and the men denied having exploited the girl. The labourer acknowledged earning from streetwalkers. The employee confessed to an affair with the maid.

The court sentenced them to four years behind bars to be followed by deportation for traficking and coercing the girl into the lesh trade and additionally caged the maid and employee for six months over the affair.

In prosecution records, the girl was in Dakar searching for a job. During a phone conversation, the maid told her that a Uae-based family wanted a housemaid. Them aid paid her passport processing fees.

The employee received her at the Dubai airport on May.3, took her to his apartment and seized her documents. three days later, the maid gave her a pill to swallow and told her to prepare and escort her to work.

The maid took her to the brothel in Al Muhaisna where she found two Asian streetwalkers at work. The employee welcomed her in. The maid told her to join the illegal trade. She refused to work.

The maid shouted threats and commanded her to obey the employee since he was the one who covered her travel expenses and possessed her passport. And if she declined to comply, the employee would get her sent to jail.

This scared her into accepting to work under duress. The labourer started funneling in clients, collecting proceeds and handing them to the maid. On May.14 an informer sent the girl’s photo to the Dubai Police for action.

An Emirati lieutenant narrated how police staked out the building. A cop posed as a client. The labourer took him inside and told him to choose. He chose the girl, paid Dhs100 to the labourer then signalled to the police team.
