Paramedics rescue Indian beachgoer

DUBAI: Paramedics resuscitat­ed and saved an Indian beachgoer, 38, from imminent death after he had drowned off Jumeirah beach, ambulance services oficials revealed on Tuesday.

The Dubai Corporatio­n for Ambulance Services received an alert about a drowning case in JBR area. Paramedics rushed in response, explained Mohammed Mohsen Al Kafali, head of Jebel Ali division.

They reached the scene within three minutes, withdrew the drowned man to a safe place and measured the vital signs to check on the pulse. They removed water from his respirator­y tract.

They conducted an external cardiac massage to wake him then put him on artiicial respiratio­n support and irst aid needed to improve his condition. They transferre­d him to Rashid Hospital safely.

The corporatio­n’s rescue operations director Essa Al Ghafari said the corporatio­n maintains several emergency points at beaches, especially places characteri­sed by congestion and public turnout.

The points are equipped with emergency services such as cardiologi­sts, paramedics, vehicles (including golf cars) and motorcycle­s, so that medics are ready to intervene to rescue those in danger.

“The corporatio­n is committed to focus on the readiness medics for all possibilit­ies particular­ly during holidays, to better serve all citizens, visitors, tourists and residents of Dubai and UAE at large,” he stressed.
