Worker to be executed for killing employer

- BY FOUAD ALI

ABU DHABI: The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court sentenced an Asian to execution on the charges of murdering his compatriot sponsor with a cleaver, in addition to seven years in prison for theft.

The Prosecution demanded the toughest penalties for the suspect.

Details date back to the time when the deceased brought the suspect from their home country to work for him at his workshop with a contract that agreed to pay him a monthly salary of Dhs1,000.

The deceased reportedly paid the suspect Dhs800, while the latter requested for an increase several times and the deceased gave him Dhs1,500. However, the following month the sponsor handed him Dhs500 only. When the worker asked him why he deduced Dhs1,000, he told him he would give it to him if he agreed to practise vice with him.

The worker allegedly planned to get rid of the employer. He bought a cleaver and contacted the employer, asking him to meet. They went to a remote area in the latter’s car, where the argument heated, and the worker hit the employer’s head and neck with the cleaver. He then left the car after he stole two mobile phones, a laptop and a key.

The following morning, the killer went to work as usual, while municipal workers discovered a parked car with a dead body in it. They called the police.

After confessing to the murder, the suspect claimed he did not intend to kill his sponsor but only wanted to hit his hands.
