Gang of six attacks restaurant customers

SHARJAH: The Sharjah Criminal Court heard the case of three Africans robbing, attacking two others inside a restaurant, in Sharjah.

ACCORDING to THE OFICIAL records, a gang of six Africans broke into a restaurant with axes and began hitting the people in the restaurant, while snatching away their money and possession­s.

A victim told the court that while he was at the restaurant with a friend, a total of six individual­s carrying axes in their hands entered the restaurant. The second and third defendants threatened to beat them if he did not hand their money to them, he continued.

The victim added that the second defendant hit him with the axe in his right hand, causing him a serious wound. Consequent­ly, he gave away his money and his mobile phone to the defendant. However, he added that neverthele­ss, he was hit on the head by the third defendant and was taken to the hospital. The defendants also hit two more people and took away their money. The victim waived his personal right, saying that he did not want Anything From them. HE Conirmed that THE irst DEFENDANT was A Customer of the restaurant. He added that during THE INCIDENT, THE irst DEFENDANT was attempting to protect the victim from the attackers.

The second and third defendants confessed to the charges levelled against them. However, they added that they accidental­ly hit the victim and his friend, and were intending to hit another individual.

The court adjourned the case to Dec.23. Further, the court decided to RELEASE THE irst DEFENDANT AND to continue to hold the second and third defendants in custody until it enquired about whether the second victim was in the country, or not.
