7 to face trial for Emiratis’ murder

AJMAN: Seven men implicated in the grisly murder of two Emiratis during a street fight in Ajman will stand trial on Sunday.

The seven referred to Ajman Criminal Court reportedly took part in a brutal clash that saw one Emirati, 22, being run over as he tried to cross the road and escape from the scene of the fight.

Another Emirati man, 26, was stabbed to death with a knife. His body was found a few metres away from the former’s body. The incident happened last January, police records showed.

Three of them face premeditat­ed murder charges while the others face multiple counts of physical assault, explained Emirati lawyer Obaid Al Mazmi representi­ng the families of the deceased.

alerted Ajman Police about a ight that left a youthful Emirati dead after he was stabbed and run over by a car while trying to escape the violence.

“Two of the defendants ran him over before they led the scene,” narrated a police oficer. Few metres away, the second Emirati was found lying dead after being knifed to death.

Three other men survived with injuries. A Comorian, 30, was found languishin­g with grievous stab wounds resulting from the ghastly clash and was referred to Khalifa Hospital for treatment.

The two other injured men were taken to Umm Al Quwain hospital. The incident happened on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (SMBZ) towards Umm Al Quwain, records showed.

Three Comorians aged 18, 26 and 30 were pinned down within 12 hours and found with the murder weapons, according to the Director of Operations at Ajman Police Col Abdullah Saif Al Matroushi.

They reportedly confessed to the murder. The reason behind the murder was not made clear. They reportedly have criminal records in several police stations in the northern Emirates.
