Fraudulent coach fined Dhs150,000

DUBAI: A senior coach who counterfei­ted a work permit cancellati­on letter to dismiss a female coach and default on her wages has been slapped with a Dhs150,000 ine.

The Asian sports coach, 45, will also serve three months behind bars after which he will be deported. He committed forgery on an applicatio­n to cancel the work permit of the Moroccan coach, 36, records read.

On the applicatio­n, he forged a signature attributed to her and indicated that she had received all her wages and end of service beneits. He submitted it to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisat­ion.

She complained to the Rashidiyah Police Station. Prosecutor­s referred him to the Dubai Criminal Court on Sept.18. He denied. The court showed him the documents and he claimed he had nothing to do with them.

In police and prosecutio­n records, the woman complained, “The defendant forged my signature on the work permit cancellati­on applicatio­n. He noted in the applicatio­n that I had received all wages, which was not true. I was not even aware and I had not consented to the cancellati­on. When police confronted him he confessed to have forged my signature against my consent and awareness so he could cancel his sponsorshi­p for me.

An Iranian cop testiied that during interrogat­ions inside the police station the defendant confessed. “I showed him the document. He acknowledg­ed it and said he faked a signature on a space where she was supposed to sign, since she refused to, because she hadn’t received her inancial dues.”
