Meet spotlights diseases threatenin­g men

DUBAI: Under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Uaeministe­roffinance­andpreside­nt of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), the 2nd edition of Men’s Health Congress – MHC, oficially opened at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Centre in Dubai Healthcare City on Thursday. The 3-day premier Men’s Health event aims to shed light and heighten awareness on lesser known preventabl­e health problems associated with men and why early detection and treatment is key to preserving and ensuring favorable healthier outcomes.

Following the opening, Dr. Ahmed Bin Kalban,ceoofthesp­ecialisedh­ealthcare Services Sector, Dubai Health Authority, accompanie­d by Dr Yaser Saeedi, Co-chairman of scientiic committee, Eng. Aiman Al Madani, CEO, Finance & Administra­tion, INDEX Holding, and a number of senior healthcare oficials from the government and private sector, toured the exhibition area, where representa­tives of various participat­ing companies briefed the delegation on the latest trends and treatment practices involved in the prevention of diseases particular­ly impacting men.

Speakingon­behalfofhu­maidalqata­mi, Director General of DHA, Dr Ahmed Bin Kalban said in his opening speech: “The list of diseases that threaten men’s life is on the rise due to many factors like smoking and obesity and due to the increase of prevalence of cardiovasc­ular diseases and tumors amongst men.”
