DUBAI: A woman who illicitly used a Roads and Transport Authority inspector’s lost ID to avoid getting parking tickets must be deported, the Appeals Court has ruled.

The Arab woman –a marketing manager, 34- misused the ID belonging to an Asian inspector, 43, working at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), he complained to Al Muraqqabat Police Station.

She committed the crime on April 11 to evade being slapped with parking tickets, Prosecutors explained in court on Jul.12. The Criminal Court sentenced her to a three- month suspended prison term.

The court issued her a warning not to repeat the same. It ordered that she be deported.

She sought to challenge the deportation order at the Dubai Appeals Court. However, the jury upheld the lower court’s decision.

An em ira ti inspector was on duty inside a paid parking when he stumbled on an ID card placed behind a Nissan vehicle’s windshield. “I checked the card issued by our workplace and saw it belonged to my friend. I contacted him. He told me the vehicle was not his. He contacted the police.” The Asian inspector testified that he arrived at the scene after. They waited for the vehicle owner who turned out to be the woman in question. “She told us that she had found the card around two months ago, and used it to evade getting parking tickets,” said the Asian inspector.

The woman also acknowledged the offence before prosecutors. Prosecutors said a letter from the authority showed the ID was issued to the inspector to introduce himself while conducting duties.
