Imran inaugurates shelter home in Peshawar city
PM thanks people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for re-electing his party in 2018 elections
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday inaugurated a shelter home for the homeless in Peshawar during his one-day visit to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) capital.
He will inaugurate three more shelter homes that have been built by the KP government as part of its 100-day plan. The homes will have the capacity to accommodate more than 400 people.
Imran said that the people of KP don’t give second chances but they gave it to Pakistan Tehrik-e-insaf (PTI) by reelecting it in general elections 2018.
Speaking at a ceremony held in Nishtar Hall in connection with the completion of the KP government’s 100-day in ofice, the prime minister thanked the people of KP for re-electing his party this year and said that the PTI had not employed any “traditional, political tactics” to win the polls.
He said people gave the PTI government a second chance for not adopting traditional politics of spending billions in development funds.
“I like (KP CM) Mehmood Khan because he is an honest and simple man. I trust his honesty,” he remarked while talking about performance of the provincial government. “No matter how intelligent a man is, if he isn’t honest or simple, he is of no use,” he added.
Last month, Imran also laid the foundation stone of a shelter home for the homeless in Lahore.
Free food is provided to the poor homeless people in these centres. Their establishment has been widely welcomed by the people. They are being managed by the respective provincial governments.
The prime minister also attended a special meeting of the KP cabinet. He was briefed on the KP’S 100-day performance.
The KP government identiied 25 initiatives to pursue during the next ive years under the premier’s directions.
In health sector, it has planned to recruit additional 4,000 LHWS (lady health workers) to ensure coverage of all rural areas in addition to rolling out a rural ambulance service to transport mothers and children to health facilities. The government will also ensure that 80 per cent of expectant mothers give birth in health facilities.
In agricultural sector, the government plans to introduce a functional It-based market intelligence system to increase farmers proit by 15-20 per cent along with reclaiming 5,500 hectares of cultivatable wastelands.
