AI for people of determination at centre
DUBAI: The Board of Directors of Rashid Centre for the People of Determination held a meeting to discuss a number of decisions including governmental support to ensure sustainability of the Centre and its future, formation of Executive Board for the Board of Directors, continuing the cooperation with governmental departments, holding regular meetings and drafting internal system for the centre while specifying its general standards, controls and frameworks.
The meeting was attended by Juma Bin Maktoum Al-maktoum, the Managing Director of the Centre, Ahmed Hashim Khouri, Founder of the Centre, Mariam Othman, General Manager, Sultan Saqr Alsuwaidi, Mohamed Baqr, Mohamed Abdeljaleel Musbih, George Bushara and Paras Chadaburi.
Ahmed Hashim Khouri has extended the greetings of Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Airline Group, Chairman of Board of Directors of Rashid Centre for the Determined Ones. He also extended support of the Chairman of Board of Directors to this ‘historical’ meeting and its details and recommendations, especially in the light of converting the centre from private, licensed by Department of Economic Development, to a non-profit centre under the umbrella of Community Development Authority Dubai.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Mariam Othman, the General Manager, has presented the achievements of the Centre and its aspirations. She further presented statistics and igures before the Board. She pointed out that the Centre currently has 29 classrooms, which can accommodate a total of 230 students that are differently abled. They are of 42 nationalities, and are served by almost a total of 137 staff members that includes the departments of administration, teaching, rehabilitation, treatment and transport. The centre has about 13 buses serving students living in different areas of Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.
She added, “The centre gives vocational training workshops to provide graduate students with the opportunity to acquire skills and expertise that qualify them to enter the labour market. These workshops cover the ields such as organic agriculture (glass house), carpentry, embroidery and sewing, printing, and photography which was introduced recently. The centre has established Rashid Market that promotes its students products to companies and privately to individuals, as well.”
Khouri, the director of the centre, said, “In this structural transformation, we have found a future interest in supporting, stabilising and sustaining the Centre, and being more transparent. We have established close relations with the Dubai Red Crescent and the Department
of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities to license and follow up the support received by the Center from institutions and companies, in accordance with clear criteria and controls that give the people the confidence.
NEW CLASSES
She explained that the centre now plans to establish some more new classes in the next semester, the most important of which is the introduction of the UAE’S heritage. The centre further plans to introduce the subject of artificial intelligence and the use of its techniques and methods in the ield of rehabilitation of Determined Ones. She added that the Centre since its establishment completed 25 years, and today qualifies itself to help build the future of the determined individuals with co ni den ce, merit and professionalism.
Saqr Alsuwaidi, the member of Board of Directors has commended the good efforts of the Financial Audit Department in the Ofice of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai as it is the controlling department to the budget of the Centre and its operational expenses. He talked about the government’s inancial support for the Centre is necessary.
Sheikh. Juma Bin Maktoum Al-Maktoum has commended Al-suwaidi’s proposal and government support for the centre will only be necessary in the next ive years; After which the Centre can rely on its ixed inancial resources that will be collected through its education fees and investments.
