Jamieson one ahead at Alfred Dunhill, targets first win in six years
MALELANE: Scott Jamieson of Scotland shot a 68 Saturday to take a one-stroke lead into the inal round of the Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa, six years after his only previous European Tour win.
The 35-year-old from Glasgow is on 205 at Leopard Creek Country Club, one ahead of American David Lipsky, who shot a third-round 70.
Defending champion Brandon Stone (69) and fellow South African Zander Lombard (68) are on 208, three adrift of Jamieson after a round played in 38 degrees celsius (100 fahrenheit) heat.
Jamieson birdied two holes and bogeyed one to turn in 34, one under par on a recently redesigned course that borders the Kruger National Park.
His second nine was much more eventful with an eagle two, a doublebogey six and three birdies within six holes from the 11th.
Lipsky, another one-time European Tour winner, failed to click on the front nine and reached the turn one over after a birdie and two bogeys.
His inward nine was similar to that of Jamieson as he carded an eagle, a double-bogey and three birdies.
He double-bogied hole 16 after finding a bunker off the tee, took two shots to reach the green and
two putted.
Raphael Jacquelin of France and Christian Bezuidenhout of South Africa notched seven birdies each as they carded 66s, the best thirdround scores, to stay in contention.
Four-time European Tour winner
Jacquelin is four shots behind Jamieson while Bezuidenhout lies five shots off the pace.
POOM STILL ON TOP
Henrik Stenson will have to battle with a player who has grown up idolising him after putting himself in a position to end a frustrating 2018 with a victory at the $750,000 Indonesian Masters.
The 42-year-old Swede has struggled with injuries this year which saw him take two long lay-offs, but moved to within three shots of Thailand’s Poom Saksansin after carding a day’s best score of four-under par 68 in extremely windy conditions at the Royale Jakarta Golf Club on Saturday.
Stenson finished on 13-under par 203 on a day when only three players broke 70, but the 25-year-old Poom, winner here in 2016, scrambled very well for a battling two-under par 70 and held his position on top of the leaderboard at 16-under par 200.
