Digital Dentistry seminar focuses on technology

DUBAI: A 3-day Digital Dentistry Mastership Programme held in Dubai with the vision to revolution­ise continuing dental education in the region, and contribute to keeping the standard of dental care at a world-class level.

The digital mastership programme was held irst time in the Middle East and organised by the Digital Dentistry Institute, USA at Jumeirah Al Naseem Hotel Dubai.

The event attended by dentists, professors from universiti­es, specialist­s from the dental industry, representa­tives from Ministry of Health, dentists from different government and private organisati­ons to look into the potential of using the digital dentistry in their institutes.

Talking to The Gulf Today, Dr Faraj Edher, Regional Director Middle East - Digital Dentistry Institute highlighte­d the importance of the progamme and its details and said that “this was the irst time that the Digital Dentistry Institute, USA has conducted a Digital Dentistry Mastership Programme for profession­als, academia and experts in the ield of dentistry. The aim of the programme is to provide the in-depth knowledge on the latest trends in the ield through two components including science and the evidence as well as an extensive hands-on the technology where the participan­ts will be given a chance to use the technology and practice on it.”

The Digital Dentistry Institute is a global continuing education institute based in the United States of America, and conducts continuing education programmes in USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia, India and different parts of Europe. These programmes are focus on all aspects of implant dentistry and digital dentistry.

Responding a question, he said that digital dentistry allows the dentists to provide their patients with more predictabl­e, more reliable and more accurate care so the standard of care for the patients signiicant­ly improved by this using the technology which is also more comfortabl­e and easy.

However, the overall mastership programme comprises of 3-cores including as intraoral scanning, data acquisitio­n, photograph­y & smile design, introducti­on to 3d printing Core-1 and virtual implant treatment planning, diagnosis, printing 3d surgical guides, utilising scan bodies with intraoral scanners as Core-2 and digital full arch therapy, prosthetic diagnosis, surgical delivery, digital dentures, and digital deinitive restoratio­ns in Core-3 while later two will be held in March and April.

Dr Edher pointed that they are planning to conduct the 3-core mastership programme once in a year in Dubai which is accessible for everyone. “The recent seminar has been attended by profession­als from other emirates as well as from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and other countries,” he added.
