Pak expats urged to contribute to country’s economy

DUBAI: Visiting Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and an active vocal of country’s ruling party, Pakistan Tehrik-e-insaaf (PTI) has assured the overseas community members to provide full support in the way of bringing foreign investment in any sector to strengthen the country’s economy.

He was addressing a selected gathering of party supporters in a local hotel in Dubai on Saturday. “There are reservatio­ns on the lengthy process and bureaucrat­ic hurdles to invest in any new project of education, health, etc. but I’m here to commit my full support to provide one-window solutions to any overseas Pakistani who wishes to invest in the country. Everyone know that we have huge potential in Pakistan and this is the critical and right time to tap it and those who are creating hurdles through corruption, we are warning them that the current government has started accountabi­lity across the board without any discrimina­tion,” he said.

He also made clear that his party has been accused of thrashing other party leaders wrongly but accountabi­lity has been started and no one will be spared.

Sarwar also highlighte­d the crumbling economic situation and said that the overseas community should play its role as they are always extend their support in the time of need.

He also praised the community on its huge generosity in every sector and informed that the government in Punjab has brought all NGOS on a platform to work systematic­ally to resolve lingering issues in health and education and at the same time strengthen the government to play their role in one direction.

“Through the support of charitable organisati­on, we are going to provide clean potable water to over 5 million people while water ilters have been installed in province’s prisons. With the help of NGO, we are setting up vocational training centres in prisons for women inmates to impart different skills while work on paying ines for those who already complete their jail sentences,” he said.

Responding a question, Sarwar pointed their government has irm believe in empowering local bodies and work on local government act has been in progress and soon it will be introduce in which local bodies will be set up on village level to resolve their issues without any bureaucrat­ic hurdles.

Answering the recent anti-encroachme­nt operations being carried out in major cities to clear prime lands from the maia, he said that the operation has cleared thousands of acres of land from maias and they are not against poor people who are living to encroach small pieces of land but will be considerin­g offering them to lease their houses.

He assured overseas community to provide security, safe environmen­t for their investment and protect their properties from the land grabbers.
