RAK Police rescue tourists from steep mountains

RAS AL KHAIMAH: The Rescue Department from Ras Al Khaimah Police, and the General Command of Civil Defence rescued 3 female British tourists after five hours of intensive search. Two of them were of 34 years of age, and one was 31 years of age.

The team lifted the trio up from the steep and rough mountain slopes after they had lost their way, during an explorator­y trip. The rescue operation went on from 6.30pm 11.30pm.

Brigadier Dr. Mohammed Al Humaidi, Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Police’s Central Operations Department, said the operations room received a call from one of the lost tourists at 6.30pm on Friday, and were told that the trio had lost their way between the mountains in Ras Al Khaimah.

A team that was formed located the lost tourists and provided them with first aid. till

The team then helped the tourists get off the mountain with the help of two Pakistani nationals who were working in mountainou­s areas.

According to Al Humaidi, the tourists were on an explorator­y trip since early morning and as it got darker and since they were inexperien­ced, the trio decided to go back to their vehicle. However, they did not know their way back.

Following repeated failed attempts to return to their vehicle, they called Ras Al Khaimah Police for help.
