Two alcohol abusing security guards mugged a motorist for frightening them ater he parked near their den and they thought he was a policeman on duty.

The Asian security guard, 30, and his colleague, 27, teamed up with two fugitive accomplices to mug the Pakistani victim –a tour guide, 43- inside a sandy area in Muhaisna at around 10:50pm on Feb.15, he complained.

One of them punched him in the face and another one twisted his arm to the back to subdue him. They snatched his Dhs500 mobile phone in addition to his wallet containing his driving licence, Safari licence and Dhs2, 450.

Both refuted the allegations during questioning at the Dubai Criminal Court. Prosecutors demanded the toughest punishment applicable. The jury adjourned the hearing till April 7 to find them a lawyer.

On the record, the victim parked in a sandy area near a workers’ barracks. The defendants and fugitives were abusing alcohol there. They set off running for fear he had come to arrest them. They realised he was not a CID cop.

He had just stepped out of the car when they approached him. He heard them talking to each other that he was not a policeman. They zeroed in on him while pelting him with insults. One of them suddenly threw a punch in his face.

Another one twisted his arm. He told them he would complain to the police. They grabbed his phone and wallet, rained kicks on him and fled. He used his second phone to contact police. Police recovered the stolen phone nearby.

He complained of an injury on his mouth and contusions on his neck and head. He told police he spoted the atackers running inside the barracks and that they were wearing a security company’s uniforms. Police seized the above duo in their room.

Earlier in February, four knife-wielding bogus cops who stormed an alleged brothel and mugged ten women were sentenced to two years in the dock, the Criminal Court had ruled.
