6 Asians charged with stealing electric cables

-

THE Dubai Criminal Court on Sunday charged six Asian nationals with stealing electric cables worth about Dhs468,000.

According to the case papers, the suspects stole the cables from a warehouse in the Al Quoz industrial area of Dubai.

A Dubai Police sergeant testified the police had received a tipoff alerting a thet in the warehouse, besides similar tipoffs of thets commited in the same criminal manner.

The perpetrators used a steel rod to break the outer door, enter the warehouse and steal the items.

Records of the surveillance cameras identified the suspects who were tracked down by the police and arrested.

On being interrogated, they confessed to the thet.

A couple of days ago two officers who ganged up with robbers to ransack an ‘unlicensed’ massage centre have lost an appeal against their prison term.

The Arab officer, 22 and workmate, 22, joined hands with two Asian accomplices – a driver, 31, and a watchman, 36 – to rob Dhs9,191.61 from masseuses inside the centre in Al Barsha at around 2:30am on Sept.26.

The Dubai Criminal Court imprisoned them for six months, ordered them to return the stolen sum and pay an equivalent fine. The Appeals Court has upheld the penalty ater which the workmate will be deported.

As part of the robbery scheme, both officers stationed their vehicle just a stone’s throw away from the centre.

The driver and watchman entered the centre posing as clients. The watchman entered a room for services.

Five minutes later he falsely shouted that a masseuse snatched Dhs3,000 from clothes he placed aside. Both officers entered to conduct an investigation into the alleged thet. Masseuses and clients pleaded innocent.

Both officers checked handbags and purses, snatching an Indonesian masseuse’s Dhs6,000, a Vietnamese investor’s Dhs1,200 and Vietnamese receptionist’s Dhs1,400, $100, Euro50 and an assortment of currencies.
