Police patrol rescue 8 stuck in cars due to rain

The policeman Salem Hassan Al-houti and his colleagues at the Traffic and Patrol Department of the Ras Al Khaimah Police rescued three families and a number of young men who got stuck in their cars due to bad weather.

Under the rainfall, amid strong winds, surface runoffs and water pools, on Sunday at midnight, in Wadi El-bayh, Ras Al Khaimah, the brave cops pulled eight vehicles, which stuck in the valley and rescued the persons who were in them.

The video and photos, which recorded the rescue operation conducted by the patrol’s team, went viral on social media receiving huge number of views and comments praising the bravery of the cops.

Due to such circumstan­ces, the central operations room at the Ras Al Khaimah Police received 1,145 calls requesting help during the rainfall, the police said.

NARCOTICS

The patrol’s team comprised five members namely Salem Hassan Al-houti, Lieutenant Buti Khalifa Buti, a guard officer, Senior Assistant Ahmed Ben Turki, Assistant Saif Ben Sayoud, Senior Cop Salem Al-shamaili. The Criminal Court in Dubai on Monday began separate trials of two visitors charged with attempting to smuggle different kinds of narcotics into the country.

In the first case, an Asian visitor, 47, is facing a charge of atempting to smuggle narcotics weighing 1,500 grams, including 1,200 grams of heroin.

VALET PARKING

The defendant was caught by the customs inspector, who detected the narcotics stuffed inside the plastic frame of his bag. In the other case, the Court heard charges of an Asian visitor, 20, who had been caught in possession of 5.5 kg of marijuana.

The Dubai Criminal Court on Monday looked into the case of a hospital valet parking worker, who stole a 24-carat gold alloy weighing 100 grams. He seized the opportunit­y of him being in the car to park it.

The police records indicated that the plaintiff gave the defendant a car tag to return it to her from the parking lot.

He allegedly stole the gold alloy from a small box, which he found next to the gear hand in the car.
