Dubai Frame wins national honour

A total of 29 outstandin­g projects have been selected as the national winners for UAE by the MEED Projects Awards, in associatio­n with Mashreq.

Uae-based projects had the most national winners among its peers in the GCC, followed by Oman with 11 and Saudi Arabia with 9. Kuwait had six national winners while Bahrain had three.

Among the big winners include Bvlgari Hotel & Resort by ALEC (Mega Project of the Year), Taweelah Gas Processing Plant by ADNOC Gas Processing (Oil & Gas Project of the Year), Bluewaters by ASGC (Residentia­l Project of the Year), Mohammed Bin Rashid Library by ASGC (Social, Cultural and Heritage Project of the Year), Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi by AECOM/ Thinkwell (Tourism & Leisure Project of the Year) and Dubai Frame by Dubai Municipali­ty (Tourism & Leisure Project of the Year).

“We are now in the 9th year of the MEED Project Awards and every year the projects that are submited provide a fantastic window on what is going on across the region. This year we have seen substantia­l increase in the variety of projects presented for awards and this reflects the growing diversific­ation of the regional economy. We are seeing ever more impressive levels of originalit­y of technical achievemen­t, of scale and of purpose as the market continues to mature and deepen. These projects continue to lay the foundation­s for long term future success for the region and continue to provide inspiratio­n and pride at what this region can achieve even whilst conditions have been challengin­g,” said Richard Thompson, Editorial Director, MEED.

Overall, 77 national winners across the GCC have been recognised in their respective countries as part of the first round of judging for the coveted awards.
