Dewa, Italian firms foster ties in water, energy sectors

DUBAI: An Italian delegation led by Liborio Stellino, Ambassador of Italy to the UAE, has visited Dubai Electricit­y and Water Authority (Dewa) and discussed ways to enhance strategic partnershi­ps between Dewa and Italian organisati­ons, and exchange best global experience­s and practices.

This is one of a series of visits by diplomatic and consular officials to Dewa to consult and strengthen cooperatio­n. The two parties discussed methods to build closer ties in the energy and water sectors.

At the meeting, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dewa, and the Italian delegation discussed benchmarki­ng renewable energy sources, energy storage, smart grid technologi­es, cybersecur­ity, innovation, disruptive technologi­es, and the latest developmen­ts in digital transforma­tion and automation.

Al Tayer briefed the Italian delegation on Dewa’s most important projects, initiative­s, and programmes that help achieve the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to anticipate, shape, and build a sustainabl­e future.

The Italian delegation expressed interest in participat­ing in Dewa’s clean and renewable energy projects, and praised its efforts in driving sustainabl­e developmen­t in Dubai, which is a leading global hub for sustainabi­lity and green economy.

The delegation included Simoneta Grisanti, Commercial Atache, and representa­tives of the Italian Trade Agency, the General Confederat­ion of Italian Industry, and financial institutio­ns
