MOE organises commercial delegation’s visit to Ethiopia

The Ministry of Economy is organising the visit of an official commercial delegation to Ethiopia, led by Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Saleh, Under-secretary of the Ministry of Economy for Foreign Trade Affairs, with the participat­ion of over 75 officials, people in business and representa­tives of the UAE’S private sector.

The visit will include official meetings with ministers and officials from the Ethiopian government, the launch of the second ‘Uae-ethiopa Business Forum’, and the inaugurati­on the country’s pavilion at the Ethiopia Internatio­nal Trade Exhibition, EITE, 2019, which will be held in the capital, Addis Ababa, from 21st to 23rd March, 2019.

Al Saleh said that the visit aims to develop the economic, commercial and investment cooperatio­n between the UAE and Ethiopia while adding that their bilateral economic ties are strong and have witnessed considerab­le growth, and stressing that the UAE government has prioritise­d its overall commercial and investment cooperatio­n with Ethiopia.

Al Saleh added that the country’s delegation will aim to create new opportunit­ies for the UAE’S private sector to cooperate with its Ethiopian counterpar­t, explore new commercial opportunit­ies in all sectors, present the UAE’S business environmen­t, and facilitate the work of businessme­n.

The trade exchange value between the UAE and Ethiopia in 2017 amounted to around Dhs2.3 billion, or over $618 million. Their level of trade is expected to grow significan­tly by the end of the year.
