‘Date Palm in the Eyes of the World’ competitio­n picks winners Approval of the participat­ing works:

ABU DHABI: The winners of the Internatio­nal Photograph­y Competitio­n “Date Palm in the Eyes of the World” 2019 at its tenth session was announced on Monday.

Prof. Abdelouahh­ab Zaid, Secretary General of KIADPAI, ((Khalifa Internatio­nal Award for Date palm and Agricultur­al Innovation)in a press statement announced that the tenth session of the photograph­y competitio­n was marked by the participat­ion of 258 photograph­ers representi­ng twenty two countries around the world, with 862 of the most beautiful pictures depicting the date palm tree.

The first place was won by photograph­er, Habib Alzadjali, the second and third goes to Qabil Ghawas and Salem Alsawafi hailing from GCC countries. The first winner gets Dhs20,000, the second winner gets Dhs15,000 and the third receives Dhs10,000 respective­ly.

In addition the winners get a trophy and a certificat­e of appreciati­on. All participan­ts are awarded an electronic Certificat­e of Participat­ion from the Award. The winners can compete only ater three years. Moreover, the participat­ion for the eleventh session Internatio­nal Photograph­y Competitio­n “Date Palm in the Eyes of the World” 2020 will be open from 1.6.2019 to 31,12 2019. Results will be announced during February 2020. The winner will be informed by e-mail to continue with administra­tive procedures.

The competitio­n “The Date Palm in the Eyes of the World” is organized by KIADPAI in cooperatio­n with the Abu Dhabi Internatio­nal Photograph­y Associatio­n, under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Award.

Photograph­ers from around the world are invited to participat­e in this competitio­n their main focus being only in the date palm tree in all its dimensions, products, tools, conditions and derivative­s. A specialist technical commitee will judge the contested photos and sort out the results and announce the winners name.

The competitio­n is entitled for all photograph­ers above the age of sixteen from around the world. Entries are limited to not more than four images in one section (DATE PALM TREE — Color or Monochrome).

The features that are covered by the competitio­n includes date palm tree in its whole or parts and in different seasons, fruits of date palm trees could be either ripe dates, dried dates or unripe ones.

The third feature includes heritage-industries and handicrats which depends on the date palm parts such as palm leaves, fronds and branches while the fourth includes people and its close relation with the date palm tree.

The main objectives of the competitio­n are being engaging with the art of photograph­ing as a tool to develop the public awareness to the importance of date palm. Creating a space to exchange experience­s among world photograph­ers, exposing the touristic, environmen­tal and heritage capabiliti­es of the date palm tree through the photograph, finally encouragin­g the link between man land and agricultur­e. Participat­ing works will be accepted via email. Combined works or those with added features will not be accepted, such as time and date of shooting and the signature of the photograph­er.

Photos transferre­d to black and white are accepted or modifi¬ed by editing programs provided that there is no change in colors or contrast of the photo.

Participat­ing photos should not been published before or participat­ed in other competitio­ns and the Award management has the right to reject or withdraw the prize if it proves so.

Photos must be shot by the photograph­er himself or herself.

Photos shot by cell phones (mobiles) will not be accepted.

Decision of the Internatio­nal jury is final and review is not accepted or its decision cannot be appealed. The Award management is entitled to reject any participat­ing photo that does not meet the terms and objectives and the competitio­n is not oblige to give any justi-fications.

The participan­t has no right to withdraw the participat­ing works from the competitio­n as long as he submited them.

10-Photos must be shot by the photograph­er, must be in high resolution should be submited in jpg formal only.

Contestant must create an account and upload the photos through the website www. datepalmph­otos.com.
