Islamic body declares new awareness programme
DUBAI: The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (IACAD) has announced its religious education programme for the second half of 2019, organised by the Education and Religious Guidance Department in IACAD. The programme includes more than 1,000 lessons, lectures, sermons, visits and meetings that tackle a variety of religious and social topics. The aim of the programme is to raise awareness about the values of Islam and to encourage tolerance and moderation between citizens and residents to create greater harmony in the emirate of Dubai.
IACAD organises lectures and lessons in several areas across Dubai and at different times in order to reach the largest possible target audience.
The venues hosting these religious education programmes for the second half of the year include mosques, prayer rooms, educational centres, official institutions, Quran memorisation centres, summer centres, hospitals, penal institutions, sports and cultural clubs and public places.
Yusra Al-qa’ud, Education and Religious Guidance Department Director, lauded the cooperation between IACAD and its partners from various government and private bodies that enable the management team to carry out religious awareness programs.
“Our lectures and lessons are based on specific methodology and scientific research, and support national initiatives and efforts aimed at supporting the values of a civilised society with an Islamic identity in the emirate of Dubai,” said Al-qa’ud.
Al-qa’ud added: “The Education and Religious Guidance Department works in adherence with the vision and strategy of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department to promote religious awareness and establish ethical values among the various strata of society by promoting Islamic culture. This in turn protects the society from destructive ideas and behavioural deviations, and encourages development, excellence and innovation among the target groups. Furthermore, we are keen to add more topics to the programme in order to address different religious, social, cultural and historical topics.”
As part of the programme, several accredited lecturers will give weekly classes on religious and jurisprudential topics at several mosques and centres.
