Rulers pardon over 800 prisoners ahead of Eid
In his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister, has ordered the release of 430 prisoners of different nationalities on the advent of Eid Al Adha.
The Attorney-general of Dubai Essam Issa Al Humaidan said His Highness’s gesture to pardon inmates aims to offer them a fresh start in life, ease their families’ suffering, and help them reintegrate into the community.
Humaidan also said that Dubai Public Prosecution has immediately begun coordinating with Dubai Police to implement the order.
Meanwhile, Dr Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, UAE Attorney-general, has said that the decision of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to release several prisoners, including those convicted of terrorism and extremism charges, on the occasion of Eid Al Adha, reflects his keenness to give everyone a second chance to reintegrate into the community, ater completing rehabilitation programmes.

On the occasion of Eid Al Adha, Al Shamsi congratulated President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa, and the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, and the Crown Princes.
His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, also ordered the release of 400 inmates of different nationalities from the punitive and reformative institutions in the Emirate of Sharjah, for good conduct considerations on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.
The pardon comes as part of Sheikh Sultan’s keenness to provide the inmates a chance to start a new chapter in life, bring joy and stability to their families and help reintegrate them into society.
His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, has also ordered the release of a number of prisoners from penal and correctional facilities in the emirate for good conduct considerations, in addition to deporting foreigners back to their home countries in enforcement of relevant court judgments, ahead of Eid Al Adha.
Sheikh Saud expressed his best wishes to the prisoners and his hopes that they will use this opportunity to integrate healthily and positively back into society.
The noble gesture comes within the framework of Sheikh Saud’s keenness to provide the prisoners a chance to start a new chapter in life, bring joy to their families, and help reintegrate them into society. His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, also ordered the release of 70 prisoners, who have demonstrated good conduct during their sentences in punitive and corrective institutions in the emirate, on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.
The pardon is an atempt by the Ruler of Ajman to provide prisoners an opportunity to start a new life and alleviate their families hardships.
Sheikh Humaid expressed his best wishes to the prisoners and his hopes that they will use this opportunity to integrate healthily and positively back into society.
Commenting on the gesture, Brigadier Abdullah Ahmed Al Hamrani, Deputy Commanderin-chief of the Ajman Police, lauded the Ajman Ruler on the “noble gesture which aims to bring happiness and ensure social cohesion.”
He added that procedures for the prisoners immediate release have already been initiated.
