Punjabi shows to grace Al Ain Zoo on Eid

AL AIN: The Al Ain Zoo will welcome visitors during Eid Al Adha with a range of activities and internatio­nal shows, making it the ideal family destinatio­n in the region.

During the Eid Al Adha holiday, from 9:00 to 21:00, visitors will be able to enjoy shows by Asian folkloric groups such as the Punjabi and Chinese bands, which will be touring the zoo with musical performanc­es, traditiona­l dances, cartoon characters and entertainm­ent activities.

Al Ain Zoo will also host animal shows, such as the birds of prey show under the supervisio­n of profession­al Emirati trainers, parrot shows, and live experience­s such as the feeding of tropical birds, and animal feeding shows featuring giraffes, penguins, lions, crocodiles, gorillas and chimpanzee­s.

For adventurou­s visitors, the Al Ain Zoo Safari will offer an exciting experience in the world’s largest man-made safari with many private and group tours.

Visitors can also take delight in tales from the zookeepers, meet the reptiles, enjoy riding the camels and ponies, and visit the zoo’s most famous animal exhibition­s.

The Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre will also host its own family activities, which include the “Visions of the Arabian Desert” film that highlights the struggle of the Emirati people with the environmen­t and shows the various stages of developmen­t in the UAE.

The centre will also organise events, workshops and programmes such as the centre’s Eidiya, Barzatuna, dyeing clothes, the history of currencies, rock colouring, mask making, traditiona­l coffee preparatio­n and hospitalit­y, the Maze Mystery, and bracelet making.

The Year of Tolerance is the main feature in all the Eid Al Adha activities at the Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre, reflecting the Ghaf Tree Pledge to preserve nature.

Omar Yousef Alblooshi, Director, Marketing and Corporate Communicat­ion at Al Ain Zoo, said, “Our activities and events have always been aimed at the family in particular.

“They vary during the holidays and special occasions, during which we aim to provide fun and knowledge at the same time to our visitors.”

He added, “The zoo has set up all its facilities and programmes in preparatio­n for the events and looks forward to welcoming a large number of visitors.”

Al Ain Zoo was establishe­d by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in 1968. The zoo is one of the most important and diverse tourism attraction­s on both local and global level.
