Ajman Ruler urges AU students to remain loyal to their nation
His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ajman University, has urged AU graduates to be always loyal to their nation and work hard to keep it dignified and on the top.
Addressing the AU 28th batch – “Batch of Tolerance,” he said this class has proudly and luckily been named ater the pioneering initiative of the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan who declared 2019 as the “Year of Tolerance.”
“This reflects the values of tolerance, diversity, equality, respect, compassion and coexistence of the UAE which is home to over 200 nationalities living and working here in peace.”
Ajman University is one of the most esteemed academic institutions locally and worldwide, he underlined. “Armed with prominent faculty and all the equipment needed, AU always adopts excellence and innovation in its highly accredited programmes and activities.”

Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Executive Council, Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Municipality and Planning Department, Deputy Chairman of AU Board of Trustees, Abdul Rahman Bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, Dr Ahmad Bin Abdullah Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Higher Education and Advanced Skills, Sheikh Dr Majid Bin Saeed Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ruler’s Court, Major General Sheikh Sultan Bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-chief of Ajman Police, and Abdullah Amin Al Shurafa, Adviser to the Ruler’s Court.
Also present were Dr Talal Abu-ghazaleh, Chairman of Talal Abu-ghazaleh of Talal Abughazaleh Global and Keynote Speaker, directors of government departments, along with AU members Board of Trustees, deans, professors, dignitaries, graduates, and parents.
AU Chancellor, Dr Karim Seghir said graduates’ success is the fruit of a long journey of support and sacrifice from their commited parents.
“Ajman University, recognised as an emerging leader on the global academic map, has been ranked among the top 800 institutions worldwide, while the 2020 QS World University Rankings lists AU in the top 2.8% universities worldwide and among top 1.7% institutions in the Arab world.”
Ajman University has also earned a spot among top 150 universities under 50 years within QS World University Rankings of the “Top 50 Under 50, he added. “QS also ranked Ajman University 4th for international faculty and 6th for international students, while AU programmes have been accredited by (ABET) - USA, as well as (UNESCO-UIA) and (ACCA) - UK.”
In his keynote speech, Dr Talal Abu-ghazaleh, Chairman of Talal Abu-ghazaleh of Talal Abughazaleh Global, said the University provides students with all the tools and knowledge needed.
“However, students should take a step forward and think out of the box,” he said. “Innovation is the need of the time.”
While the commencement ceremony saw 1,264 graduates from 42 nationalities, the function held on Oct.28, saw 489 male graduates - including 461 holders of bachelor’s degrees and 28 of master’s degrees, while 775 female graduates, including 686 holders of bachelor’s degrees and 89 of master’s degrees, were honoured on Oct.29.
Recently, Ajman University, dedicated to handson innovation, provided its architecture students with an exceptional experience to communicate with and learn from a globally renowned architect.
Dr Farouk Yaghmour, Chairman Yaghmour Architects, Jordan, known worldwide for his inspiring masterpieces, lectured the students on the architecture of traditional and modern mosques, sharing some of his iconic projects.
The valuable lecture was followed by a threeday workshop during which the students were asked to develop an architectural design of a mosque in view of both tradition and modern principles.
Dr Yaghmour, known for his revolutionary architectural creations, is behind the distinctive “Spine” mosque on the Palm Jumeirah. “The real art to building modern places of worship is simplicity.”
For him, simplicity means a more relaxed seting with no room for distracting details. “An architect should be true and honest to his time by using the latest material.”
