Abu Dhabi Ports marks National Day

ABU DHABI: Abu Dhabi Ports celebrated Emirati culture and our nation’s achievemen­ts during the 48th UAE National Day, with a special outdoor event near Mina Zayed and festive activities at the Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal and at Marsa Mina.

Over one thousand staff members from across the organisati­on gathered at an interactiv­e venue, constructe­d from shipping containers and purposebui­lt for the occasion, outside of Abu Dhabi Ports’ HQ building near Mina Zayed, to enjoy a traditiona­l Emirati market.

Not everything about the day, however, was about culture and tradition, as staff partook in a selection of futuristic high-tech entertainm­ent, including virtual and augmented reality gaming, and paintball. A particular highlight included a virtual reality ‘spacewalk’, recognisin­g the historic achievemen­t of the first Emirati astronaut, Hazza Al Mansouri, whose journey to the Internatio­nal Space Station has been a source of national pride during 2019.

Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Group CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports, extended his congratula­tions to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, theuae’spresident,hishighnes­ssheikhmoh­ammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President the Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh

Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses the Members of the Supreme Council, the Rulers of the Emirates, wishing the UAE’S leadership and people continued prosperity and progress.

He said: “For this 48th UAE National Day, we celebrate the great journey of our nation. Abu Dhabi Ports’ story began just one year following the founding of the union in 1971, with the official inaugurati­on of Zayed Port, and our organisati­on played an instrument­al role during the nation’s formative years. We continue our contributi­on to this day, enabling opportunit­ies for the future.”
