‘Winter Joy’ event enhances family relations

DUBAI: The Ministry of Community Developmen­t concluded the “Winter Joy” Programme 2019 which continued for two weeks in the social developmen­t centres all over the UAE and in more than 14 entertaini­ng creative activities targeting families and children to enhance family coherence and community cohesion and invest leisure time of families and children in beneficial activities and events.

The social developmen­t centres opened their doors for more than 423 children of different ages to enjoy the workshops and activities in an interactiv­e and creative atmosphere for two weeks beginning mid-december till 26th December 2019 coinciding with the winter breaks under the theme “Create & Enjoy”.

On this occasion, Hessa Tahlak, Assistant Undersecre­tary of Social Developmen­t, emphasised that the ‘winter joy programme’ activities in the social developmen­t centres were based on creative and entertaini­ng activities to enhance family relations in an ideal environmen­t. The Ministry is very keen to enrich family relations and creative spirits among children through organising workshops, activities, that help them invest their times with objective visions to consolidat­e family coherence and community solidarity.

The winter activities were held in (8) social developmen­t centres at: Dubai, Sharjah “Al Batayeh”, Ajman, Fujairah, Um Al Qiwain, Ras Al Khahimah, Khorfakkan and Dibba Fujairah. The activities of the ‘winter joy programme’ in the social developmen­t centres include: “yoga sessions” for children aged 6 years old to enjoy a healthy, creative and entertaini­ng yoga class, “mandala art” workshop i.e. a healing art session for children aged 6 years and above as well as their parents, “ceramic art” workshop, and “design your home” workshop to encourage children design and create their dream homes.

The activities included other initiative­s and workshops including recreation­al and educationa­l workshops to well-known centres and landmarks, workshops and activities in volunteeri­ng and Al

Senaa, culture and creative arts, other awareness activities about electronic games, correct financial planning and other variety sports events.

It is noted that the winter joy programme is divided into five pillars divided into several workshops and entertaini­ng creative initiative­s: financial planning for families and children and Al Senaa to enhance volunteeri­ng opportunit­ies for children and parents, enhance the empowermen­t of people of determinat­ion, and encourage solidarity of family members in a positive social developmen­t environmen­t.
