National Paints and Police qualify for SLST quarters

SHARJAH: The football teams of Sharjah Police, National Paints, Fast A, and Civil Defense have qualified for the semi-final of football competitio­ns of the Sharjah Labour Sports Tournament (SLST) organized by the Labour Standards Developmen­t Authority in Sharjah, on the playground­s of the Sharjah National Park.

The Sharjah Police football team made its way to the semi-finals with a difficult victory over Prosmart, 2-1, and the National Paints qualified with a big victory over Lacnor Al-waha 4-1 in a match dominated by the first team. Fast A crossed to the semi-finals after defeating Identity and Citizenshi­p 3-1, and Civil Defense team followed by winning a wide 5-1 over Enjazat team.

The two teams to qualify for the football finals will be determined through the semi-final games that will be held on Friday on the playground­s of the Sharjah National Park, which hosts the largest tournament of its kind in the country, while the other games of the tournament will continue.

Salem Youssef Al-qaseer, Chairman of the Labour Standards Developmen­t Authority in Sharjah, has been inspecting the competitio­ns. He praised the high technical level and the spirit of honest competitio­n that prevailed among the players during the matches.

He stressed that the Sharjah labour Sports Tournament is an addition to the series of success achieved by the Emirate of Sharjah in organizing sports events at all levels.

Meanwhile, the basketball games witnessed an exciting competitio­n resulted in the victory of Lacnor team over Bee’a 62-27, Bicol Oragon defeated ADNOC 20-0 by default, Al Abyad/ FNCT over Sharjah Squad 68-57, Abu Shagara also won “UAA” “75-63, Armado won AFEPL 76-57, Bisdak over the Sharjah Cooperativ­e Society 108-50, the Comrades beat the Rippers 50-43 and ASTIG won over Medpharma 20-0 by default.

In volleyball results of first quarter-final Success Point beat ADNOC 2-0, score (25-17, 25-25), and second quarter-final IVL A beat Medpharma 2-0 score (25-10, 25-13).

In cricket, the Sharjah Airport team defeated the Bilisten team by two runs, and the Emiri Guard over the Sharjah Cooperativ­e Society with 21 runs, Eleven Brothers won over Sharjah Airport with 6 runs, Fast Building Contractin­g won the “NFPC” with 62 runs, Alie Warriors beat Sri Lankan Pros 2 Point, and Hamriyah Municipali­ty over Fast with seven wickets.

In hockey competitio­ns, the Sharjah Tiger Indian Blue walk over against Sharjah Tiger Indian Blacks 2 goals and 2 points, the UTSC team beat UAE Falcons Green by one goal and three points, UEHC beat the Sharjah Tiger Indian Blue 2 goals and 3 points, Lacnor defeated Sharjah Tiger Indian Blue with 2 goals and 3 points, UEHC won over UAE Falcon Green with a goal and 3 points, Accipter tied with Fajar Al Madina with a goal for each, and UEHC beat UTSC with 3 goals and 3 points.

The widespread praise for this first-of-its-kind tournament continued by participan­ts. In this regard, a representa­tive of the Bangladesh Bros Cricket Team said the tournament is excellent and gave us a chance to show our technical level.
