Mammoths tame Lions in DCC Smashers League

DUBAI: Prajakat Chouhan played a stellar role with the ball and bat to guide Dubai Mammoths to an easy six-wicket victory over Roaring Lions in the Dubai Cricket Council’s Smashers League at the Sevens ground in Dubai.

Roaring Lions won the toss and after a decent start from their batsmen Hemin Desai (52) and Deepak Nicholas (35) they were rocked onto the back foot by Prajakat (3-18), Santosh Kotian (233), Shiva Pagarani (2-27) and Devendra Taneja (2-24) and folded up for 153 in 23.4 overs.

Vriitya Aravind (38) gave Mammoths a steady start after they lost two early wickets. Punya Mehra took charge from there with a cracking unbeaten 54, while man of the match Prajakat played a superb cameo of 27 to help Mammoths cross the line in 19.3 overs.

Like Chouhan, in another match Nilansh Keswani too excelled with the bat and ball but unfortunately for him his side DCC Starlets lost to Rowdy XI by four wickets.

Nilansh scored 24 and bagged four wickets but it was Nitin Jain’s man of the match innings of 56 not out and Moiz Jethpurwala’s 42 which enabled Rowdy cruise home in 23 overs.

Rowdy were however outplayed by Uninsurables in their next match.

Batting first Uninsurables posted 182 with a half century from Imad Ul Karim who also bagged two wickets along with Sunila Machado (2-33) and Omer Jawaid (3-27) to restrict Rowdy to 155 for 8 from their allotted 25 overs. Brief scores: Dubai Mammoths beat Roaring Lions by 6 wickets
