REALITY MIRRORED

-

Why must the media make headlines when clowns utter nonsense? Case in question is Mr Trump who says he hasn’t touched his face amidst coronavirus fears. And then twitterati follows this comment with a slew of pictures that prove otherwise (“Donald Trump says he hasn’t touched his face in weeks due to coronavirus”, Mar.5, Gulf Today).

But don’t we realise that the reason for leaders to make such foolish remarks is that they will garner attention and reactions from people, which is exactly what the narcissistic president and a certain prime minister want.

The said prime minister has decided to steer off social media and not play Holi so that the coronavirus doesn’t spread. What?! Yes you heard that right.

But then we must not complain. Because these vile elected representatives are the product of our very own racist inclinations and communal thirst. They are a reflection of you, dear citizen, and therefore you don’t like what you see in the mirror. But that’s you.

Be the change you want to see, said the Mahatma. We, as voters need to make a paradigm shift, if we want to see a saner picture unfold on the larger canvas. Be careful next time you cast your worthy vote.
