Cloudy, humid weather likely today, tomorrow

ABU DHABI: The National Meteorolog­ical Centre (NMC) predicts that the Saturday and Sunday weather will be partially cloudy and humid at night.

The NMC expected some rain on Monday, in the far north and east of the country, with a decrease in temperatur­es.

On Monday and Tuesday morning the weather will be humid at night in some of the interior areas, with an opportunit­y to form light fog or fog.

Winds, according to the NMC will be northweste­rly, moderate to active, stirring dust on the exposed areas. Its speed will range between 20 and 30 kilometres/h, reaching 42 kilometres/h.

As for the sea, it will be turbulent at times in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

The centre indicated that Wednesday’s weather will be clear to partly cloudy, sometimes cloudy, and humid on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning in some western coastal areas.

Winds on Wednesday will be light, and will blow northwest at a moderate speed, but sometimes active on the sea, with speeds ranging from 20 to 30 up to 40 kilometres/h.

On Wednesday, the sea will be moderate but may sometimes turn turbulent in the Arabian Gulf, and moderate in the Sea of Oman.

In Jan, the 4th Internatio­nal Rain Enhancemen­t Forum, IREF, organised by the UAE Research Programme for Rain Enhancemen­t Science, UAEREP, under the supervisio­n of National Center of Meteorolog­y, NCM, opened at Jumeirah Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi.

IREF serves as a global platform to bring together leading internatio­nal and national experts, researcher­s, scientists and stakeholde­rs to tackle pressing water and sustainabi­lity issues worldwide.

Commenting on the event and its key highlights this year, Dr. Abdulla Al Mandous, Director of NCM and President of the Regional Associatio­n II (Asia) of the World Meteorolog­ical Organisati­on, WMO, said, “The UAE, under the forward-looking vision of its wise leadership, continues to play an instrument­al role in tackling vital global issues affecting millions of lives worldwide, including water resource sustainabi­lity.”
