30% of staff in private media institutio­ns allowed to work

ABUDHABI: Further to the decision of the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) and Ministry of Interior (MOI) to launch the National Disinfecti­on Programme, the National Media Council ( NMC) has decided to allow a maximum of 30 per cent of the workforce of each non-government media outlet to work across the day during the disinfecti­on period with all necessary procedures to be taken to ensure compliance with the decision.

The government media sector is exempted from the restrictio­ns on movement of people and vehicles during the disinfecti­on programme which will take effect over the weekend starting from Thursday, Mar.26, 8 pm to 6am every day until Mar.29.

According the decision, government department­s are authorised to issue circulars identifyin­g the exceptions given to each sector in order to ensure business continuity in line with the approved precaution­ary and preventive measures.

NMC calls upon all media institutio­ns to dedicate all their profession­al and technical resources to educate the public in all languages on the new procedures to ensure safety of the society and its protection. NMC also urges all non-government media personnel to carry their media ID cards during the disinfecti­on period.

Separately, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has announced the implementa­tion of 100 per cent remote working starting next Sunday, Mar.29, in compliance with the circular of the Dubai Executive Council to implement this rule in all department­s and institutio­ns of the Dubai government.

The regularity of daily operations and services has been taken into account, anticipati­ng any difficulti­es that may affect the functionin­g of business operations, Dubai Chamber said, adding that employees have been provided with the latest technologi­es, and solutions to all barriers have been identified, in order to maintain business continuity. The Chamber says it has provided an integrated system of smart and electronic services that cover all the needs and requiremen­ts of the business community, which enables its customers to complete all their transactio­ns remotely, easily and in accordance with the highest internatio­nal standards.
