Ministry and FNC hold meeting via videoconfe­rence

ABU DHABI: The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs ( MFNCA) held its ordinary coordinati­on meeting with the General Secretaria­t of the Federal National Council (FNC) remotely via videoconfe­rence, exploring ways to continue working together and maintainin­g the system set up to ensure coordinati­on between the government and the FNC.

Furthermor­e, the meeting debated several issues that help boost performanc­e in the upcoming period, including requests to approve topics for discussion, coordinati­on procedures for FNC sessions, and the Council’s oversight plan.

MFNCA Undersecre­tary Tariq Hilal Lootah attended the meeting, along with Dr Omar Abdel Rahman Al Nuaimi, Secretary-general of the FNC; Dr Saeed Mohammed Al Ghafli, MFNCA’S Assistant Undersecre­tary of FNC Affairs; Dr Jaber Mohammed Al Zaabi, Assistant Secretary-general for Legislatio­n and Monitoring at the General Secretaria­t of the FNC, and several officials and specialist­s from both entities.

Lootah began the meeting by applauding the tremendous efforts undertaken by the teams in both the General Secretaria­t of the FNC and the MFNCA, who have been working as one team to offer innovative services that enhance integratio­n and coordinati­on between the executive and legislativ­e authoritie­s. “This, in turn, serves the general directives of the UAE’S wise leadership to join hands and work together to serve the country and discuss the issues that help enhance performanc­e across all sectors,” he said.

“Despite the many changes that have transforme­d our work environmen­ts in light of the current challenges, we made sure to hold our ordinary coordinati­on meeting with the General Secretaria­t of the Federal National Council to explore future plans,” Lootah added. “This reaffirms that the FNC and the government will continue to coordinate regarding all topics up for debate at the Council.”

For his part, Dr Omar Abdel Rahman Al Nuaimi thanked the Minister of State for FNC Affairs and the Ministry’s team for their dedication to organising the coordinati­on meeting, which discussed a host of priority issues related to the Council’s activities over the upcoming period. “This, in turn, allows the Council to exercise its constituti­onal responsibi­lities and contribute to the comprehens­ive developmen­t of the UAE, especially in light of the unlimited support the FNC receives from our wise leadership, in line with the Political Empowermen­t Programme announced in 2005 by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan,” he said.
