Civil Defence teams douse factory fire
AJMAN: A fire broke out at 10:14 on Thursday in an adhesive factory in the new industrial area of the Emirate of Ajman.
The Civil Defence teams immediately rushed from the Industrial, Department and Al Jarf Centres to the scene where firefighters extinguished the fire.
Two workers sustained moderate burns, and were transferred by National Ambulance to hospital for treatment.
Brigadier General Mohamed Ali Jumeirah, Director of the Civil Defence Centres, highlighted the necessity of industrial establishments and sectors abiding by the protection and safety requirements which the General Directorate of Civil Defence in Ajman complies with, in order to preserve lives and maintain property.
Last month, a fire broke out in a pick-up truck in Sharjah. The pick-up was parked near Matajer Al Khan.
Children playing in the area noticed the fire and informed the authorities. The Sharjah Police and Civil Defence teams immediately arrived at the site. The Civil Defence team members took control of the fire. It was learnt that there was no one inside the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Eyewitnesses said people and cars parked near the fire site were moved to safety. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire.
Police have urged motorists to carry out safety checks in their vehicles to avoid such incidents.
Recently, Ajman Civil Defence teams had successfully put out a fire that engulfed a diesel tanker, after the driver lost control over the vehicle and swerved off the road to crash into the curb stone.
The crash ignited a spark that immediately caught fire without causing any injuries.
A call was received by the operations room around 9pm, reporting about the fire accident that took place on Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Rd. Civil Defence teams immediately rushed to the scene in a record time, and successfully contained the blaze to hand the crash site to Ajman Police afterwards.
