AD police chief reviews workflow at security points

-

ABU DHABI: Maj. Gen. Maktoum Ali Al Sharifi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Police, greeted the staff members of Abu Dhabi Police’s frontline in Al Ain, on Eid Al Fitr, wishing them success in their work.

He reviewed the workflow at the security points, where he was briefed about the security helmets that are designated to detect heat within the framework of Abu Dhabi Police’s keenness to preserve the health and safety of community members in accordance with the best international standards and practices.

The Abu Dhabi Police have also warned against leaving children unattended in parked cars while shopping or for any other reason.

“Leaving children unattended inside parked cars at home or in other places is punishable by law. It is considered an act of negligence that may lead to serious consequences including death,” the Abu Dhabi Police said. Therefore, legal action would be taken against violators, the police added.

Children may die of suffocation or heat stroke inside a vehicle, especially with summer temperatures setting in, they added.

“It is not advisable to assign responsibility of taking care of the small children to their older siblings or housemaids. Leaving children in cars, especially during this hot weather can cause them to suffocate if the car stops operating,” the police added.

“Parents should pay more attention to children and monitor them at all times,” said the police.

An earlier report said the General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police continued its anti-coronavirus awareness campaign in the emirate’s industrial areas.

The campaign aims to distribute face masks among workers in their workplaces and accommodation camps and to boost their awareness of the precautionary measures against the virus, including proper wearing of face masks and gloves and adhering to social distancing protocols.

In a report released to mark International

Labour Day, the GHQ of Abu Dhabi Police said the campaign emanates from the UAE’S approach of proactively cooperating with the international community to protect the rights of labourers and to ensure that they enjoy fair treatment in the areas of recruitment, pay, accommodation, health, safety and security.

In 2019, Abu Dhabi Police carried out a number of sport activities at the labour cities and conducted awareness sessions in various languages to thousands of workers on legal, traffic and security issues.
