Holiday for New Hijri Year announced

DUBAI: The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisat­ion (MOHRE) on Thursday announced that Sunday, August 23, would be a holiday on the occasion of the New Hijri Year.

The holiday will follow a weekend giving private sector employees a long three-day weekend.

The Ministry said on its twiter account, “On the occasion of Hijri New Year 1442, MOHRE announces that Sunday, 23rd of August, will be a paid leave for all employees working in private sector establishm­ents and facilities across the UAE.”

Also the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources announced on Thursday that Sunday, August 23, would be a holiday for the public sector in the country.

It said, “It has been decided that Hijri New Year holiday for the year 1442 in the Federal Government of the UAE will be on Sunday, 23rd of August, and regular working hours will resume on Monday, 24th of August, 2020.”

SAJAYA: Expressing their solidarity with the citizens of Lebanon in the wake of the devastasta­ting Beirut explosion, the Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah (Sajaya), an affiliate of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators, is organising a virtual fundraiser titled ‘Salam cultural event’ on Saturday, August 15.

The initiative, announced on Internatio­nal Youth Day on August 12, is in response to the ‘Salam Beirut’ campaign launched by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairperso­n of The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF) and Eminent Advocate for Refugee Children at UNHCR, to provide urgent relief to the victims of the tragic explosion. Sajaya’s ‘Salam cultural event’ to be hosted live on Zoom will feature a series of activities including an art auction, drawing, sketching and painting, and instrument­al and vocal music segments. A Dhs50 entry fee to the event will be paid by participan­ts on the TBHF website link htps://bh.ikhair.net/ml/lebn/, which will be donated in full to TBHF. Participan­ts can also make charitable donations using the same link.
