Culprit loses life in attempt to escape arrest

DUBAI: An African gang was arrested and referred to criminal court for assaulting and robbing a British man of his belongings in a Dubai hotel room.

The gang used a social media account to offer fake massage services and lure the victim into a hotel room.

A female defendant contacted the victim and made him believe that she offers massage services.

When the victim arrived to the room, he was surprised to see the defendants, two females and three males, and they all managed to tie him up to complete the robbery.

They stole Dhs1,800 and an iphone 11 Pro from the victim.

Apparently, a previous report was filed against the defendants, accusing them of commiting the robbery several times.

When police arrived at the scene, they found that the defendants had ran away except for two of them. A police officer pursued one of the defendants, but the defendant assaulted the officer and managed to flee by jumping from a balcony.

While another female defendant tried to flee the scene by jumping from the same balcony, but unfortunat­ely fell to her death.

Investigat­ions revealed the identity of the runaway defendants and they were all arrested and charged with assault and robbery.

TWO AFRICANS HOLD MAN HOSTAGE : Two African men were arrested and referred to criminal court for holding a man hostage, beating him and steal in gdhs 81,000 from him. official records indicate that the defendants had used a fake account and posted to sell an old closet that they had.

The victim was interested in buying the closet and contacted one of the defendants, who in his turn asked the victim to meet him directly to finish the payment and take the closet.

When the victim headed to the apartment, he was suddenly atacked by the two of them, tied up, brutally beaten and held hostage in order to give up his money and credit cards.

The defendants stole his phone, an amount of Dhs700 and a wallet that include 10 credit cards and credential­s. The thieves withdrew Dhs41,000 out of the victim’s account, and purchased items worth Dhs40,000. While being held captive, the victim asked to use the bathroom, and used that chance to alert one of his friends through a text message. The victim’s friend instantly called the police, who rushed to the crime scene and managed to save the victim.

The two defendants fled the apartment before police catch them, and jumped out of a window leading to the building’s shat. Police teams managed to identify the defendants and arrested both of them. They are now facing robbery, assault, and kidnapping charges.
