Abu Dhabi unveils isolation capsule for virus patients

-

The Abu Dhabi Police ( ADP) have launched a medical transportation system with an air ambulance via a capsule that incubates infectious diseases through an integrated isolation system to transport such patients.

The ADP said the service is the first of its kind in the region and the country and is a part of the precautionary measures taken by the UAE to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Colonel Pilot Obaid Moammad Al Shemeli, Deputy Director of the Abu Dhabi Police Aviation Department, central operations sector, emphasis ed during the inauguration of the system the ADP’S interest in keeping pace with developments and upgrading the development process, embodying the directives of the leadership that provided support and capabilities to achieve the finest and best services in “our society”.

Major Doctor Ali Saif Al Dhahouri, a specialist in aviation medicine with the ADP, explained that the capsule is considered an integrated isolation system for transporting patients suffering from infectious diseases from one medical institution to another via air ambulance while ensuring that the infection is not transmitted to others or the crew.

He added that the service can be used in the future for all types of infectious diseases.

On the other hand, the UAE Health Ministry conducted 82,344 Covid-19 tests, and revealed 330 new cases and bringing the total number of cases to 63,819. The new cases identified are undergoing treatment.

The ministry announced the death of a person who tested positive for COVID-19, due to complications. This brings the total death toll to 359.

The total number of recovered cases of Coronavirus (Covid-19) has reached 57,473 with 101 cases recovered on Friday ater receiving treatment.

The Ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased and wished current COVID-19 patients a speedy and full recovery, calling on all members of the society to cooperate with health authorities, adhere to the instructions and social distance to ensure the health and safety of all.

In India, the coronavirus death toll overtook Britain’s to become the fourth-highest in the world with another single-day record increase in cases on Friday.

The UAE has launched the second phase of the UAE Resident Return Programme, which now removes the requirement for Abu Dhabi residents to wait for prior approval to return to the UAE capital whilst overseas.

All guests travelling on Etihad flights to, and via Abu Dhabi are required to show a negative COVID-19 PCR test result from a government approved testing facility.

From Aug.16, this will also apply to all guests departing from Abu Dhabi.

According to the Health Ministry, India reported 1,007 deaths in the past 24 hours. Its total rose to 48,040 deaths, behind the United States, Brazil and Mexico.

India’s confirmed cases reached 2,461,190 with at single-day spike of 64,553 cases reported in the past 24 hours, the ministry said. India is behind the United States and Brazil in total positive cases. More than 70% of people infected in India have recovered.

The daily increase in newly reported infections was around 15,000 in the first week of July but jumped to more than 50,000 in the first week of August. The ministry cited its testing efforts, with more than 800,000 tests in a single day, taking cumulative tests to more than 26 million.

Health experts say it needs to be higher, given India’s population of 1.4 billion.

India’s two-month lockdown imposed nationwide in late March kept infections low. But it has eased and is now largely being enforced in high-risk areas.

In the UK, London-listed shares fell on Friday as travel stocks tumbled ater Britain imposed new quarantine measures on travellers from France and other countries, while disappointing data from around the world raised worries of a delayed global economic rebound.

In new zealand, government on friday extended a lockdown of its largest city Auckland for another 12 days as it tries to stamp out its first domestic coronavirus outbreak in more than three months.

The outbreak has grown to 30 people and extended beyond Auckland for the first time. Until the cluster was discovered Tuesday, New Zealand had gone 102 days without infections spreading in the community. The only known cases were travelers quarantined ater arriving from abroad.

UAE reports 330 new cases, a death; Abu Dhabi eases travellers’ curbs; India’s toll overtakes Britain to become the fourth-highest; European stocks slide as UK reimposes quarantine; Auckland lockdown extended as virus cluster grows.

ABU DHABI: The Abu Dhabi Police have unveiled a medical transport system by air ambulance through an isolation capsule designated for COVID-19 patients and those who are suffering from infectious diseases. Such a way is the first of its kind in the region, which comes within the precautionary measures in force in the country to combat spread of coronavirus.

Commenting on the new transport system, Colonel Pilot Obaid Mohammed Al Shemaili, Deputy Director of Abu Dhabi Police Aviation Department at the Central Operations Division, said that the move comes with the keenness of the Abu Dhabi Police to cope with the developments and to promote all capabilities to serve the community. It also translates guidance of the prudent leadership that spares no efforts in providing all requirements to ensure provision of the best services of highest quality for the community.

In the meantime, Major Doctor Ali Saif Al Dhahori, aviation medicine specialist, explained that the capsule is considered an integrated isolation system for the patients suffering from infectious diseases to transport them from one healthcare facility to another safely. It ensures non-transmission of infection to others while transporting them, he added, noting that it can be used in the future for all infectious diseases.

Recently, the Abu Dhabi Police have warned against begging emails via Whatsapp and social media that ask for help in illegal ways.

The Abu Dhabi Police explained that it was a crime and in violation of the law. The scam is run by fraud gangs, targeting random members of society.

The police asked people to ignore these fake requests, as a reply would elicit a continuation in their messages. They were urged to report the content to the competent police authorities which would take the necessary measures.

The reasons for begging in general and their concentration in Ramadan were atributed to the failure of some members of society to report beggars, which would motivate them to continue with their illicit goals. Electronic begging is similar to traditional begging, which includes propitiating people by misleading methods and tricks, dramatic stories and fabricated accounts to drain the victims ’savings by promising to provide charitable aid to fictitious individuals and bodies, the police said.

They emphasised the continuation of their efforts to address this scourge, through campaigns of inspection, awareness and arrests that have contributed to reducing crime.
