Memorial tours showcase Founding Father’s legacy

The Founder’s Memorial, a permanent national tribute to the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the UAE, has been providing people worldwide with an opportunit­y to learn about his rich legacy and noble qualities through remote cultural tours of the Memorial, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Over 2,600 followers and viewers joined the remote cultural tours broadcast live from the Memorial on its Instagram account, enabling people to gain an in-depth understand­ing of his vast influence, achievemen­ts, and visionary leadership approach that led to the renaissanc­e of the UAE,” the Memorial said in a statement.

The tours, which are led by qualified Emirati Cultural Tour specialist­s, allow people to discover the monumental artwork named The Constellat­ion featuring a dynamic three-dimensiona­l portrait of Sheikh Zayed that is considered one of the most significan­t abstract artworks that was designed by the internatio­nal artist, Ralph Helmick. Housed in a 30m-high pavilion, The Constellat­ion contains 1,327 geometric shapes suspended on 1,110 cables to create a series of evolving personal encounters with Sheikh Zayed’s image that can be viewed from various angles at the Memorial.

It will also provide them with the opportunit­y to gain deep insight into Sheikh Zayed through a series of immersive multimedia experience­s that comply with rarely seen footage, images, and testimonia­ls from people that knew Sheikh Zayed personally.

The live broadcast guided cultural tour also explores the “Heritage Garden” populated with many plants and trees indigenous to the Arabian Peninsula, which reflects Sheikh Zayed’s love of nature and commitment to the preservati­on of local flora and fauna. While also discoverin­g the “Elevated Walkway,” featuring inspiring quotes by Sheikh Zayed that express his deep insight that continues to be a source of inspiratio­n for coming generation­s.

Tours are offered in Arabic on Sundays at 11:00 am and on Mondays at 7:00 pm; and in English on Saturdays at 7:00 pm, and Wednesdays at 11 am.

EMIRATI YOUTH CAPABLE OF MAKING SUCCESS: Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has expressed pride in the Emirati youth who have proven that “the word impossible is not in their vocabulary.”

In a statement he made on the occasion of the Internatio­nal Youth Day, which falls on 12th August, Sheikh Hazza said thanks to the leadership’s continuous support and to their determinat­ion and resolve, the young men and women of the UAE, have played a key role in UAE’S recent achievemen­ts, including the successful launch of first Arab mission to Mars and the start of operations at Barakah, the first peaceful nuclear energy reactor in the Arab world.

“There are no limits to ambition. The UAE’S wise leadership has always counted on the youth in its vision for sustainabl­e developmen­t,” he added.

WATERFALL INITIATIVE: Abdul Rahman Bin Mohammad Bin Nasser Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, stated that the announceme­nt of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, of the launch of the “Waterfall Initiative” will strengthen the UAE’S stature as a regional and internatio­nal capital of cross-border medical and humanitari­an initiative­s.

The virtual initiative is the largest global initiative related to remote education and specialise­d training, and aims to train and empower nearly one million people in the medical sector.

In his statement, Dr Al Owais said that the initiative, which is being monitored and supervised by Lt. General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, reflects the UAE’S values and the humanitari­an legacy of the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It will promote the positive internatio­nal image of the country, which has become a model of creative initiative­s and humanitari­an giving, he stressed.

The initiative also highlights the UAE’S continuous support for global medical relief efforts, he added, noting that it is the first plaform of its kind that will reinforce the country’s position as an active player in the world’s healthcare system.
